After decades of growth within the United States, Keats Manufacturing opened a new facility in Queretaro, Mexico in 2016. This exciting expansion was a direct result of growing customer demand in Mexico for finished products, but it wasn’t our first move. In 1989, we moved our headquarters from Chicago to Wheeling, IL, where we’re still headquartered today, and we opened a second facility in El Paso, Texas, in 1994.
A third location in Mexico was a natural progression to best serve our clients, and it didn’t take long before we outgrew our facility. We’re proud to announce the expansion of our Queretaro facility.
The Reason for the Move and Expansion
It’s simple: we needed more space to meet growing demand. With this location, we can offer faster, more efficient service to our clients in Mexico and Central America. Our expansion gave us more space to add machines, and we have an increased capacity that allows us to take on projects of any size—including larger ones that used to be hard to handle. We’re not sharing this building: it’s ours and ours alone, meaning we can tailor everything we do to our customers.
Highlights of the New Facility
By tripling our size from 15,000 square feet to 45,000 square feet, we have room for more than 30 new machines. Our immediate plans include adding 16 machines to increase our productivity. We’ll continue to add new technology as it becomes available and as demand dictates.
Presence in Mexico
In the four plus years since we opened in Mexico, we’ve established a powerful presence as an industry leader. With more space and increased production capacity, we can accept more projects for our clients.
This isn’t our only recent growth spurt. We also added 15,000 square feet to our U.S. facility.
Thanking Our Customers
The original expansion to Mexico has been incredibly successful, and we can’t wait to see what the next few years will bring! We owe it all to our customers. Thank you for your continued trust in Keats. We’re proud to be your partner in manufacturing.
