Wires and cables carry power and data between pieces of equipment, circuitry, and power sources. Whether exposed or hidden inside cabinets or machinery, keeping them protected and organized is critical to proper functioning and precision fit. Metal clips are an important tool for managing wires and cables in many applications.
Keats Manufacturing Co. specializes in high-volume, custom stamped metal parts, including clips for wire and cable management. All clips are custom designs, made to the exact drawing specification. Learn about our capabilities and how our clips are used across industries.
Keats’s Capabilities
Keats manufactures high-volume production runs of custom metal parts with fourslide, multislide, and progressive stamping to meet your requirements. Depending on the size, geometry, and design intent of a clip, forming operations such as blanking, bending, punching, piercing, curling, or others may be used.
Custom tooling is developed for each design in order to meet customer requirements, and lead time is typically 8 to 16 weeks. Because we focus on high-volume production of 500,000 pieces or more, all tooling is made with high quality, durable materials.
We can stamp many profiles and shapes in a range of sizes, including:
Each application’s requirements are unique, and therefore we offer a variety of materials for wire and cable clips. Options include, but are not limited to:
- Aluminum
- Beryllium copper
- Brass
- Cold rolled steel
- Low- and high-carbon steel
- Nickel
- Phosphor bronze
- Stainless steel
In addition to stamping, we offer secondary services for one-stop manufacturing. These include plating, e-coating, heat treating, austempering, stress relieving, vacuum hardening, and oil quenching. Protective tape and reel, and reel to reel packaging is also available.
Industrial Applications
Clips are used in many industries for holding, organizing, and managing wires and cables inside and between pieces of equipment. Proper wire and cable management also ensures that components and assemblies fit within their enclosures correctly and do not shift during operation. This is even more important as devices and equipment are designed to be smaller and more streamlined. These are some of the applications for which we can stamp custom clips.
Appliances
Clips are used in ovens, washers, refrigerators, and other major appliances to keep wires and cables away from moving parts and temperature extremes generated by the appliance.
Renewable Energy
Renewable energy systems, such as solar, wind, or hydroelectric power, use cables and wires to transmit data and power over short and long distances. Fasteners and clips in these applications must be robust to withstand weather and UV exposure.
Automotive
The automotive industry works within strict standards, tolerances, and regulations for quality and safety. We are IATF 16949 certified and regularly work with Tier 1 automotive suppliers. Some common vehicle applications for clips include:
- Airbags
- Trim applications
- Instrument panels
- Fender assemblies
- Solar panels
- Door panels
- Window control units
- ABS brake systems
- Control switches
- Wire harnesses
- Sensors
Communications
Telecommunications, broadcasting, computer processing and data centers, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT), and other “connected” communications applications still rely on wires and cables for power and data transmission in many cases. Clips keep cords and wires under control in even the smallest of spaces.
Construction
Many construction applications, ranging from power tools to wiring installations in structures to cables in heavy equipment, require cord and wire management clips. In these heavy-duty applications, corrosion and stress resistance are important.
Electrical Distribution
Fuse boxes, electrical panels, circuit breakers, and other electrical applications require clips to keep wires grouped correctly and organized for easy access. Clips can also help to optimize space inside enclosures and in other small spaces.
General Manufacturing
Tools and equipment used in manufacturing applications use wires and cables for supplying power, motion control, WiFi connectivity, and data transmission for continuous monitoring systems. Managing cables and wires keeps them out of the way of personnel, away from sharp or moving equipment, and accessible for maintenance.
Healthcare and Medical Devices
The healthcare industry uses many powered and connected devices for outpatient procedures, surgery, imaging, and other applications. Wire management clips make it easy to move and clean equipment, and prevent wires or cords from protruding into sterile areas. Clips can also serve as guides for tubing and hoses. One example is a custom hose clamp for a urinary drainage bag, which we have produced in an annual volume of over 20 million pieces.
Military
The military deploys many mission-critical applications for telecommunications, security, transportation, and other operations. Keats can stamp clips and other components that meet Mil-Spec standards.
