Precision metal stamping is a high-volume manufacturing process that forms sheet or coil metal into finished parts using hardened tooling in a mechanical press. Material is fed continuously and cut, bent, coined, or drawn across sequential die stations until the part is complete. Precision stamping is distinguished from conventional stamping by the tolerances it holds — commonly ±0.0005 in. on critical features, and as tight as ±0.0002 in. on qualified ones — and by in-die secondary operations such as tapping, welding, and insertion.
